I Was Taught To Break, is an on-going project that surveys the scientific study of the body through dissection and how this imprints upon how the body is understood and experienced.
In 2015, during a three month residency at SymbioticA Centre For Excellence, Chloe was trained in tissue culture, histology and microscopy among other laboratory practices under the guidance of Oron Catts and Ionat Zurr. These techniques were utilised in the isolation and suspension of her white blood cells in vitro. Growing and sustaining her living biological tissue outside of her body, Chloe questions the notions and parameters of self.
